Remote scrolling is cheap. Walking to a corner is not. From Only Now uses that cost on purpose. If a capture, offer, or ad can be opened from the sofa across town, it is not “nearby” — it is just another post with a map pin as decoration.
Radius is the lock
Each item has a radius. The server checks distance. Inside the circle, and inside the time window, you see it. Outside, you do not. Clustering on the map still lists what is actually there, with a thumbnail, title, username, and a path to the full item.
Time is the second lock
A future capture is not a spoiler for people who happen to pass the pin early. A past capture is not dumped into Today. Now is the rolling day you are living. Together, radius and time stop the feed from becoming a search engine for other people’s streets.
Privacy is a third lock
Public items still need the place. Private items also need the right person. You can send a capture to one username or email. Location does not replace consent; it sits next to it.
That is the whole product: place and time, a radius, and an optional audience. Create an account and stand somewhere.
